Lamont's Woes
And now, Arianna Huffington is writing a theoretical obituary for him, blaming the consultants Lamont brought on board for dulling down a once-exciting campaign.
"The addition to the Lamont campaign after the primary of Democratic insiders Howard Wolfson, Doug Schoen, and Stephanie Cutter has been part of the problem. According to their poll-driven culture, one must move to the center and appeal to those in the middle. And, as a result, once-promising politicians are insidiously encouraged to lose their moral bearing -- and the authenticity that made them so compelling in the first place."
I'm not sure Arianna Huffington defines "compelling" in the same way as the average Connecticut general election voter. But still, it's surely not good news for such a prominent Lamont sympathizer to be engaging in recrminations -- even hypothetical ones -- three weeks before the election.

While fundraising numbers do tend to mean something when it comes to showing support and having the ability to spend money last minute the Lamont campaign will not have the second worry as I am sure Ned and his wife will just simply write the campaign another check so that it is fully funded for the rest of the race.
This though begs another question which is why aren't major Democrats and the press concerned that if Lamont is trying to "buy the election" with his own money that they will lose being able to use that arguement in the future as they tried to use with Bloomberg twice.
I'm sure Lamont will be taking advice from a candidate like Arianna who did so well when she ran for Governor of CA. Didn't Gary Coleman get more votes?
Lamont is a likely loser: let the left-wing circular firing squad begin! The "establishment" didn't let Lamont be Lamont! He shoulda got Lowell Weicker up on stage on Primary Night, not Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson! He shouldna headed off to his family's vacation estate in Maine for a week's r&r after the primary! Lieberman's Senate colleagues were sabotaging Lamont all along by refusing to strip Joe of seniority should he get re-elected....
