In the Queue: Superbad

Bloody jeans. Boob punches. “These Eyes” by The Guess Who. “Samsies.” “Blow js.” “McLovin.” “What the fuck?” It’s Superbad, this year’s most quotable, and irresistibly charming comedy (by 20-something year olds’ standards) and it comes out on DVD this week.

This buddy movie was made by Knocked Up producer buddies Judd Apatow, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Shauna Robertson and follows co-dependent high school seniors Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera). Motivated by their twittering hormones and the prospect of parting ways at the end of the year, they decide to get booze for their hot girl crushes in the hopes of losing their virginities at the year-end blow out party. Seth encouraged Evan: “You know when you hear girls say ‘Ah man, I was so shit-faced last night, I shouldn't have fucked that guy?’ We could be that mistake!” Hilarity, and a ridiculous adventure to obtain alcohol as underagers, ensues. Despite all the heaping spoonfuls of testosterone and fantastical plot twists lobbed at you during Superbad, you can’t help but to laugh at (and along with) the misfits Seth and Evan, and their precocious sidekick, McLovin. It also kinda makes you want to go to the rooftops and shout how much you love your best friends (Boop!).

Also coming out this week is Rocky: The Complete Saga set. But, after indulging in some "Yo, Adrian" you'll probably have the "duh-nah-nahhh, dun-nah-nahhh" soundtrack stuck in your head as your running up the subway stairs every morning. There’s also The Wire: The Complete Fourth Season. Catch up before the new season begins on HBO on Sunday, Jan. 9. You can also get drunk on some wine and belt out Somewhere Over the Rainbow along with Rufus Wainwright on his DVD Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall.
